On May 20, 2010 by the initiative of the RA State Migration Service of the Ministry of Territorial Administration a TAIEX Workshop on EU Experience in Labour Migration Management took place at Ani Plaza Hotel. The aim of this workshop was to get acquainted with the EU best practice and policy in the field of labour migration.

The key experts on the subject from Germany, Sweden, Portugal, and Austria referred to various angles of the subject doing emphasis both on the theoretical part and the practical basis in the EU overall and in particular member states. The agenda of the workshop contained the following issues:

• Labour migration in Armenia: overview of the current situation
• The European Pact on Immigration and Asylum I- Overview
• The European Pact on Immigration and Asylum II- Blue Card and Circular Migration
• Liberalisation of the use of foreign labour in some EU Member states- the case of Sweden
• Bilateral agreements of EU Member States with countries of migrant's origin- the case of Portugal

The list of participants included representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Economy, Labour and Social Affairs of the RA, The Police of the RA, The Government of the RA, the National Assembly of the RA, the EU Advisory Group to the RA, a number of NGOs, international organizations.
